      • vic-autoplace: inconsistent placing of windows & x button breaking things; vic-general: resetting source->channel mapping & only detecting 4 directshow & 1 wdm camera (I think Tom fixed this right away); rat: intel hd-audio spec onboard sound not working at all (set up remote desktop on eagle for Piers to test this one)
    • Set up Remote Desktop & Visual C++ Studio for Piers to check out the HD audio problem in rat. note: logout & don't use eagle from ~2PM on

  • Handed off one of the LCD keys to Marilyn. She wants to make a copy for Mark U or _______ so at least 2 people in the department have them.
  • Upgraded Archon to the AG3.1 Beta!
    • Holding off on Delilah for a moment because of a possible Videum-related bug.
  • AG test meeting
    • Installed 3.1 on Delilah & confirmed Videum vic input config bug
  • Received Sony LCDs for Color Science
  • Working on an easy MPEG-4 VLC transcoding solution for recording Live Earth concert at a lower bitrate
  • Confirmed: Langie will install the LCDs early next week.

  • Made a questionnaire for Hypersonic project
  • Installed all cards in Sun machines (5 IVC, 3 Quadro FX1500 for new Suns and 1 Quadro NVS285 to replace mushrik's broken one)
  • Tested wiki restore from database dump backup (it works)
  • Ordered Sony LCDs (KDL-46V2500) from GovConnection
  • Received: KVMs, Sony cameras for other venues, some cables
  • Organized & cleaned a bunch of stuff in the lab
  • Demo for City of Rochester
  • Bothered Dell about Projector A; its replacement shipped next-day air at midnight on the 28th.
  • Figured out the command to play AGVCR files into the RIT venue from the command-line:
    time agvcr --no-gui -a 224.2.224.224/20000/127 -v 224.2.224.225/20002/127 -p -l 1 -f filename
    • An alias called agvcr_play_to_rit has been added to Archer and Mushrik.

[edit] Summer, Week 3 (Starting 18 June)

  • Started backing up Archer's BudgetTracker database.
  • Ordered cameras and cables from GovConnection:
    • 10 Handycams
    • 4x 50' RCA Video
    • 5x 25' RCA Video
    • 4x 12' RCA Video
    • (The Panasonic camera takes too long to ship from Govconnection, so I'm going to go through Adam however long it takes)
  • Met with Bill Clymer about the NTID HyperSonic Speakers Project, keeping project notes on this wiki.
  • Ordered the 5 KVMs for CASCI & 74-1069.
  • Except for the IT Collaboratory and Hallway, all we need to buy are:
    • Microphones,
    • Mic/camera mounts,
    • LCDs for the Color Science Lab (Andrew suggests Sony (XBR2 or V2500, which we can get from GovConnection)
    • Locks & cables
    • A/V & Firewire cables
    • Another AccuMic.
  • Met with Rowe Photo, and will get a quote regarding:
  • Tested Soho card with Canon camera mic in 2270, result: virtually no echo cancelling. Will test more next week
  • Access Grid test meeting
  • Wiki improvements: added file upload (with antivirus scanning) & batch local file uploading, and started daily database backup (email to ed, andrew, shared ice lab gmail)
  • Transferred all prominent AGVCR & other recordings to LMC
  • Took delivery of 3 Sun Ultra-40 workstations -- with keyboards and additional video cards, but without LCDs. Thankfully, we have plenty of CRTs to use in the short term.
  • Ordered 12 TechnaLock security cables with adhesive plates.
  • Making a Word document for the Hypersonic Sound Project

  • Emailed Jeff Pelz to ask who installed his HD projector
  • Installed Conduit, DVI->HD, Firewire in 2270
    • Everything works
  • Conferring with Langie re: installing a screen. The budget looks somewhat worse, as shipping + installation costs $2k. This probably doesn't include projector installation, especially after he hears what we'd probably do.
  • Asked Adam (working for Jon Schull) about video-latency for the TripleHead2Go
  • Set up meeting with Joel from Rowe Photo about IT collab & other (next Tueday, 6/19@3pm)
  • Narrowed down mic types and placement for CASCI (2, condenser, cardiod (or super))
  • Met with Mark Fairchild about color science venue
  • Tested enhanced vic with 2 cameras sending (works, should work with arbitrary #, will test after getting more firewire cables)
  • Emailed Andrew Lake & Laurie Kirchmeier about DVTuner & DVTS, no reponse yet
  • Broadcast RC working group meeting over AG & recorded it
    • DVTS recorded, but playback doesn't seem to work
  • Experimented with DVD ripping for archiving non-AGVCR recordings

  • Registered the projectors in CASCI as casci-l, casci-m and casci-r (left/middle/right);
    • re-labeled the remotes accordingly
  • Tested component inputs of Sharps with DVD player from ETC - left TV's apparently does not work
  • Tried Windows KB896256 multi-core optimization hotfix - didn't make a difference with vic
  • More image comparison with Panasonic & other 1CCD cameras (Sony TRV38 this time)
  • Hosting local viewing of Teragrid presentation streams (Tuesday through Thursday)
  • Continued testing & correspondence regarding VicR
  • Found a VGA 3-head box for potential IT collab display
  • Set up for, recorded and hosted local viewing of (in 2270) U Manchester Seminar, Ying Liang Ma
